It has been quite some time, I know. Last you heard from me, I was figuring out this single, mompreneur life while finding the rhythm to being a mother of two. Guess what? I am still there! I guess we can all agree parenthood is like that, a constant ebb and flow where you are forced to stop and realign or regroup on how you are going to keep going… and for me that’s where community comes in.

But what happens when you are forced to isolate and distance from that community that you have relied on? I have been quite lucky… my sister (and business partner) and I live together, with my girls. For me, the idea of living together came quite easily after separating from my husband being that we had just launched our business… financially, it made total sense. I imagine that perhaps the idea of living with a pregnant sister and her toddler could not have come easily, but my sister did it anyways. I can say that amidst the pain and sadness, her drive to make our business succeed, made me focus. Her willingness to listen, helped me let go. Her motivation to see further, allowed me to dream bigger. She’s a HUGE part of my community!

For almost a year, we have been forced to change our lives and limit our freedoms, but it has also allowed us to refocus and truly keep pushing through with these dreams of ours. She’s helping me raise my girls and for that I don’t have the words to describe how grateful I am. The flexibility of having impromptu work meetings over feedings and her consistently adding meetings to my calendar to ensure I get through tasks is something I do not take for granted. I cannot help but think about the many women that have been forced to leave the workforce because they need to care for their children. I know how difficult it is to juggle work while attempting to meet the demands of our kids.

One of the most important things that has come out of launching our business, little Lola & tots is the community we have built. It’s hard for us to limit our playtime, programs and event calendars. We are always strategizing, not just on how to stay afloat but also on how we can help our community. In an effort to help parents during this pandemic, we are offering limited, donation-based slots of playtime for your little ones – an opportunity to bring your laptop and jump on our wi-fi and work away in a relaxed atmosphere. We can all agree that being able to rely on a community is what makes the village that it takes to raise children.

donation-based playtime worktime schedule – mondays & wednesdays from 3 – 5 pm to book click here.
