A Summer Full of Creativity, Community, and Childhood Magic in Brooklyn

There’s something special about summer camp in Brooklyn. The energy shifts, the kids are a little louder, the days feel longer, and somehow every week turns into a new adventure.

At Travel con Lola Summer Camp, we wanted to create a space where children could truly experience summer through creativity, movement, imagination, friendship, and exploration. Not just another camp packed with activities, but a place where kids can make memories that actually stick with them.

One day our campers are creating pretend ice cream sundaes with paint, glue, sprinkles, and imagination. The next, they are diving into ocean exploration, learning about whales, sea creatures, and underwater life while imagining what it would feel like to swim beneath the waves themselves.

We love watching the way children naturally learn through play when they are given the freedom to explore.

Art has become one of the biggest highlights of camp this summer. From bold Keith Haring inspired masterpieces to collaborative murals and hands on crafts, our campers have been expressing themselves in ways that are colorful, loud, creative, and completely their own. There is something really powerful about seeing a child realize their imagination can become something real.

And honestly, some of the best moments are the simplest ones:

  • Running through sprinklers during a Brooklyn heatwave.
  • Taking summer selfies with camp friends.
  • Dancing during interactive story time.
  • Laughing so hard during water play that everyone forgets how hot it is outside.

Those are the moments childhood is made of!

One of our favorite parts of camp has been interactive storytelling. We approach story time in a way that allows children to fully immerse themselves in books through movement, conversation, imagination, and social emotional connection. Watching children act out stories together, build confidence, and connect with one another through books has been one of the most beautiful parts of our summer.

At the heart of it all, we want Travel con Lola to feel like more than just childcare. We want it to feel like a community experience where kids can stay active, creative, curious, and connected during the summer months.

Families often tell us they appreciate that our Brooklyn summer camp feels warm, flexible, and welcoming. Whether children are joining us for outdoor play, STEAM activities, arts and crafts, storytelling, sports, or neighborhood adventures, we want every child to feel seen, included, and excited to come back each day.

Summer goes by fast, but the memories children make during these little moments tend to stay with them much longer. And honestly, that’s what camp is really about!
